Possible Ban on Thursday Night Games:

We recently learned that the University of North Carolina recently decided to stop playing Thursday night football games on their campus indefinitely. UNC further recommended to the ACC that all member schools follow their lead. The Campus Affairs Committee of the University of Maryland Senate (composed of faculty, staff, and student representatives) considered this recommendation and proposed to the Senate that the University of Maryland should not follow the recommendation of UNC.

UDPATE:

As a result, we asked all of you for two weeks after the announcement to email the Senate Executive Committee to encourage them to follow the Campus Affairs Committee’s recommendation. Just prior to the N.C. State game, the senate decided not to take up the matter and will let the Campus Affairs Committee’s recommendation stand. This will allow Thursday night games to remain a part of our campus well into the future. Terrapin Nation would like to thank everyone who took the time to petition the senate.
